We grew up on soda, microwave dinners and spray cheese and the belief that sleep was optional. Back then, “healthy” meant choosing Baked Lay’s instead of regular chips and considering Sprite a solid hydration choice (I mean, it is lacking the food dyes…). But as we started raising our own kids, we realized something—our children’s health wasn’t something we could afford to leave up to chance. And, spoiler alert: the answers weren’t in another round of antibiotics or the pediatrician telling us “they’ll grow out of it.”

When one of our kids had severe asthma and traditional medicine wasn’t making a dent in their healing, we started asking better questions. What if health wasn’t just about managing symptoms? What if the body was designed to heal when given the right support? That’s when everything changed.

Hey, I’m James—The Dad Who Went Full On Research Mode

If you had told teenage me that I’d be talking about gut health, immune resilience, and swapping Tylenol for natural fever support, I would’ve laughed and cracked open another Mountain Dew. But here we are.

I grew up believing sleep was optional, energy drinks were hydration, and a plate of greasy disco fries at the local diner was a perfectly acceptable midnight snack before skateboarding through the neighborhood past curfew. Health wasn’t really on my radar—until I became a dad. More specifically, until one of our kids developed severe asthma and we started realizing that the endless medications weren’t fixing anything.

That’s when I went full research mode. I started digging into functional health, gut healing, and root-cause medicine, and the more I learned, the more everything clicked. Our bodies weren’t failing—they were responding to the overload we were throwing at them. When we started supporting the body instead of suppressing symptoms, we saw healing happen firsthand.

That’s when I knew—other families needed this, too.

Now, as a Functional Wellness Practitioner, my goal is to help parents ditch the confusion and take control of their kids’ health. Because I know what it’s like to feel powerless when your child isn’t getting better.

When I’m not working with families, you’ll find me wrangling our own seven kids, adventuring outdoors, and still staying up too late—though now it’s with kombucha instead of Mountain Dew.

When I became a mom, I thought I had it all figured out. Pediatrician-recommended snacks? Check. Tylenol on standby? Of course. Wellness checks and routine vaccines? Check. Then there was my hippie-dippie friend, relentlessly talking about gut health and home births, rubbing coconut oil on everything, and giving her kids Acidophilus like it was candy. Meanwhile, I kept frying everything in canola and vegetable oil, blissfully unaware (because, obviously, that’s what made all my favorite Mexican dishes taste good), while she watched in horror like I had personally insulted her entire family lineage.

Like most moms, I wasn’t searching for a different way—I thought we were doing just fine. That was my wake-up call.

Now, as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), I help moms:
